Simply Betty Stamps challenge... Bling It On

Pic is a bit out of focus... sorry.  The paper is Velvet Descent from Crafty Chaos Designs and the funky rhinestones are from JoAnn's.

I thought the folded flower was very fitting for a little fairy :)
And obviously, Stickles is my friend.

Be sure to check out the challenge over at SBC!

New Simply Betty Release - Christmas Emos Preview Day 2

How did you like yesterday's preview?  Well, on to Day Two:

Elfin' Miller is in da-house!  I swear I giggle every single time I see him :)

VERY simple card, but I just couldn't foof it up.  Me thinks I need some red/black embellies.  Believe it or not, I just don't have any!  A room full of papercrafting schtuff & I couldn't find something that worked with this... CRAZY.  Time for a room re-org!!!

Please note:  Elfin' Miller does NOT come holding the pair of tidy whities...
THAT little gem was added by me :)

And soooooooooo totally perfect for this image, dontcha think?

And in case you can't see the sentiment, the front says:
WTH... I was good all year & all I got were these tidy whities?!
The inside reads:
Don't EVEN tell me what's in my stocking.

I really wanted a wittier sentiment, but I just totally blanked.  The possibilities really are endless...
  • chestnuts roasting
  • jingle bells
  • snowballs
  • you really shouldn't re-gift certain things
  • roomier than the tights he's wearing...

A good friend of mine DID come up with this little bit of wondermousness:

"Well, I was ACTUALLY thinking of Santa's List
when I said that I wanted to leave a good mark."

bwaaahhhh haaa haaa... thanks, Beverly!
I would LOVE to hear some funnier ideas from you all.  Please leave me a comment with some off-beat sentiment that could be used for this image (with the tidy whities) and I'll select my favorite and send the winner a little sumpin' sumpin'!!

Well, tomorrow is the big Release Day Hop!!
Be sure to start over at the SBS blog for all of the details!

I thought the sentiment matched Autumn's attitude perfectly... the inside says:

HDH052 - Graveyard step card

Freakin' finally, right?  I stayed up late last night finishing this little baby off.  I've seen step cards around for awhile now, and just never tried one out... this HDH052 challenge gave me the perfect reason to do one :)  I mean, sometimes it's tough to get three or more images on one card unless you have just a little bit more room to work with :)

Have I told you lately that I LOVE my MS grass border punch?!  I think that is clear on this little graveyard scene!

I stamped the iron gate on a transparency and then glued it at the bottom & covered it with another grass strip to conceal it.  Works well me thinks!

I'm not sure you can tell, but there are a bunch of little stars in the night sky that I made with a glitter pen.

How do you like the kitty hiding behind the grass?  That would be a "whoopsie-turned-wonderful".  I took a marker to color the white around his whiskers green, so that it would blend a bit.  UGH!  Do NOT do that.  So I covered it all with the bunch of grass... genius me thinks :)

Don't you love the orange bubbly wondermous oozing from the cauldron in the background?!  Me too :)  And the gravestone border punch from MS... love love LOVE.  Love even more when I add a little Stickles to them :)

Delightfully Spooky (TAC sentiment), witch/cauldron silhouette (unknown)
Paper:  Bazzill & Neenah white & TAC black cardstocks
Ink:  StazOn black, Memento Tuxedo, VersaFine Onyx,
Other:  MS border punches, orange & Concord Distress Stickles, clear Stardust glitter pen, Copic markers

HDH051 - Netherworld Nymphs... by Barb

**If you are looking for Simply Betty's Back to School Emos Blog Hop,
please scroll down to next post!**

Can you believe it... I made it just under the wire!  The Queen of Procrastination strikes again.  I should have already had next week's card done by now... HAAAA HAAA... yeah right.

This little nymph image is from Stamp It Crazy... which is still one of my absolute faves.  I squeezed her onto a regular A2 sized card... she really needs a little more space though... no room for foof.

That ribbon is about a 100 million years old and is some cheap crap from Target $1 spot or something.  But, the color was perfect... though the bow won't poof up because it's kinda crispy feeling ;)  So I topped it with another GlowSkullz embellie.

Stamps:  MS182 LG Gothic w/ Branch Wings (Stamp It Crazy), Thinking of You (TAC)
Paper:  Bazzill and Neenah cardstocks
Other:  Scor-Bug, Tim Holtz edge die, GlowSkullz, cheap a$$ ribbon
Copics:  0, BV20, BV23, G12, G21, G24, G85, V93, V95, V99

Look, Oz... Barbi-dots just for you :)

HDH050 Ice Queen Angel

Well, after seeing all of the fantabulousness from the Minions, I am embarrassed to show this piddly thing, but I will!

I needed something quick and easy, and since Torrente's images are so skinny, there isn't much room for a lot of coloring :)

Bonus:  another winter holiday card done!  Yeay!  That makes, what, like four that I've done so far... good grief... I need to pick up the pace!

Stamps:  Angel (Stampotique), Merry Words (retired TAC)
Paper:  Bazzill, DCWV, black & Neenah white cardstocks
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo, Cote d'Azure Palette
Other:  Nesties, Tim Holtz edge die, EK Success edger punch, misc. rhinestones
Copics:  0, BG02, BG05, BG07, BV20

Tune in tomorrow for Fiendishly Fun Friday AND a Simply Betty Bloghop!!!

Deal with it...

My mojo is missing... still... WTF?!!  I am hoping to "stamp out of it" this weekend, but I just don't know.

Paper:  Bazzill, white ultrasmooth & black cardstocks (TAC)

HDH040 - Beautifully Beastly Butterflies... my 1st take...

Ok, so the idea that was floating around in my head for this challenge, didn't actually hit the worksurface as I imagined it.  So I have ANOTHER idea that I can hopefully get done in the next day or two :)

Me thinks I should have NOT used the white ink in the sky... just sayin'.  I must say that I do LOVE the double border punched scene at the bottom.  AND the butterfly came out pretty good, too :)  Definitely a fun one to color.

The butterfly is a $.99 digi created by Angelia from Scrap Your Scraps, who just happens to be a buddy of mine!  You definitely need to check out the original digi... I actually inverted it & cut the antennae & curly-q's off since I didn't want to cut AROUND those little suckers :)

See the clouds?  I actually used a VersaMarker and colored just a portion of a border stamp (left off the vines & foof), as well as to highlight the gravestones and top of the fence.  A little embossing powder & heat gun... and voila... shimmery moonlit clouds & schtuff :)

Digi:  Butterfly (Scrap Your Scraps)
Stamps:  Edge Designs (TAC), So Splattered (retired TAC)
Other:  VersaMarker, Transcendence EP, MS border punches
Copics:  0, V06, V09, V99, BG72, BG78

April Fool's Day Smeared and Smudged Member Blog Hop

Happy April Fool's Day!  Is that the proper greeting?  I guess I've never really thought about it :)  Well, at any rate, today will be hoppin'... Blog Hoppin' that is!  The Smeared and Smudged online community is having a blog hop that is sure to be full of surprises... I'm not telling about ALL of the surprises... you'll just have to find out for yourself
{muhu whah ahhh ahhh ahhh ahhhhhhhhhhhh}

My project, however has no surprises... I was mojo-less for that part, so my sad little fairy must do.  I brayered & sponged directly on the card base for this one... the only additional layer is the fairy herself :)  She is so beautifully sad, don't you think?

I colored her with Copics and probably should have gone a little more dark with her to fit into the rest of the scene, but I kind of like how she is this bright little thing standing out in the middle of a dark evening.  I used a three-color feathering technique for her gown... it looks really good in person.

Stamps:  Sad Elfwood Fairy (Stamp It Crazy), tree (Tim Holtz), Edge Designs (TAC), Trendy Greetings (TAC), Fresh Air Favorites (retired TAC)
Other:  Copic markers, foam tape

And to see if you actually read all of this stuff, I'm going to be offering up a little surprise of my own... be sure to leave a comment on this post, and I'll draw a name on Thursday, April 8th after 5pm.  Now, keep in mind that this IS April Fool's Day, so the little surprise you get in the mail MIGHT be new, used, shiny, ready for the trash bin... you just don't know!  It might be dark or cute or something in between, but I'm not telling.  Sucka!

Have fun hopping through all the blogs to see the great variety and talent that Smeared and Smudged members have to offer!!!  It is such a fun community of stampers, and if you like things a little on the dark side or out of the norm, it's definitely the place to gather!  These stampers are really fun group... now, go and check them out for yourself and be sure to leave the love!

He/she will be asked to be a guest blogger for the following month, if they so wish, and receive a little giftie from me... this could be stamp sets, handmade items, papers, halloweenie embellishments... you just never know.

Ok, my little pretties... your challenge this week:
Somber Shakespeare

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween page, project or card using images/sentiments from Shakespeare's tragedies.  Hamlet, Macbeth, Romeo & Juliet... I know he's got a ton of plays & poetry, so let's limit this challenge to the tragedies only!!  Click
HERE for a list from Wikipedia.

I chose Hamlet... it was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw this stamp from Stamp It Crazy!  PERFECT!

I'm also using this card as another entry over at the Copic Creations challenge No. 24!  Does green count as a skin-tone technique?!!  I hope so :)  If you click on the second photo, you can really see the shadows on her face, which I think turned out pretty cool.  As did the skull... did you know that when you use the blender on the BV20 & BV23 Copics that it appears to separate the blue from the violet?!  The effect is awesome!
Stamps:  Girl with Skull (Stamp It Crazy), Fresh Air Favorites (retired TAC)
Paper:  white Ultra Smooth, black, & Bazzill cardstocks
Ink:  Palette Noir
Other:  Copics, Scor-bug, Black Soot Distress Stickles, EK Success edger punch

Ok, people... let's see some culture ;)  Break out those old English Lit. books from back in the day for a little inspiration this week!!

Are you up for it?!

Fairy princess...

I have had this fairy all colored up with no where to go!  I just haven't been feelin' the mojo flowin'... I'm thinkin' it's this dreary weather... ugh.  So, I tried to use a sketch... let me just say that I do not use sketches... they are hard for me to design with for some reason.  That being said, I am not happy with the card, just happy with colored image :)  So I'll include this on the Copic Creations Challenge No. 24 for blonde hair and faces/skin tones.

Maybe you would have better luck with this sketch... it's over at the Smeared and Smudged forum, and it's the March Smeared and Smudged Very Sketchy Challenge.  And of course, this goes along with the princess theme here at HDH, except she's not sinister enough :)

I really like how I made her sleeves look sheer and the two-toned wings.

Stamps:  FY39 Elegant Fairy (StampItCrazy), Yield to the Princess (TAC)
Paper:  white ultra smooth & black (TAC), DCWV blue, & Bazzill gold cardstocks
Ink:  Tuxedo Memento, Noir & Cognac Palettes
Other:  Bazzill Bitty Blooms, Copic markers, turquoise sequins, gems (Hobby Lobby), Diamond Stickles

Ok, my little pretties... your challenge this week:
Vampy Vampyress

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween page, project or card using an image of a vampyre or vampyress.  Decrepit or sexy, mysterious or "in your face"...  let's see those fanged fiends!
And look, can you believe I finished my card on time?!  I know, I've TOTALLY been slacking as of late, but since I've been working full time again, I'm mojo-less after work :(  What's good is that I just received a fresh supply of creepy-cool images from Stamp It Crazy!  I LOVE happy mail!

I altered a fairy image to create this vampyress... I blackened the eyes & then added fangs with a white gel pen.  The original image is so pretty, put I needed a little bit of vamp in there :)

Stamps:  fairy FY38 (Stamp It Crazy), Mini-bet (TAC), Creative Inspiration (retire TAC)

Paper:  White UltraSmooth & DCWV cardstocks, and black Bazzill

Other:  Icicle Stickles, Scor-bug, Mini Attacher (Tim Holtz), lace fabric, Copic markers

I am trying to get the hang of those Copics still... luckily I'll be getting Copic certified on Sunday the 21st!  Can't wait :)  I did pretty good on the wings, but now you can't tell since I coated them in glitter!

Barb from Stamp It Crazy has offered up this fairy image for our prize winner this week!  So let's get Vampy, people!!
