SBS Steampunk Romance Blog Hop

Simply Betty Stamps is releasing a new line of steampunk images... ala Romance! These are perfect for love, anniversary, engagement, or "just because" cards & projects. If you've arrived via Angela's blog, then you are on the right track, if not, be sure to start at the Simply Betty Stamps Challenge Blog for details on how you can get your mitts on some of these fantastic new images at a discount or for FREE!

I am loving Betty's new artist that creates these steampunk lines! All of the clothing folds and details... they are so much fun to color.

First up is Grace. I thought she was lookin' a little forlorn, so I created a "miss you" card. Super clean & simple!

Digi: Steampunk Romance Grace
Rubber Stamps (The Angel Company): Background Soup, (can't remember the senti set)
Paper: Bazzill & Caboodle white cardstocks
Ink: VersaFine Onyx
Other: Copic markers, MS border punch, misc. ribbon

Don't you LOVE the little bat wings on the heart?!

And next up is Emma. She is my FAVORITE of the six new Steampunks!

I cut the card front short so the edge punch showed up better. I thought the hearts were pretty fitting.

Digi: Steampunk Romance Emma
Rubber Stamp (The Angel Company): Love You
Paper: misc. eggplant, kraft & Caboodle white cardstocks
Ink: VersaFine Onyx
Other: Copic markers, EK Success edge punch

I'm very pleased with how the coloring came out on this image! It looks even better in person :) But do you see why I love this new line?! Look at all of those folds. {sigh}

Well, that's it for today, folks... but don't fret! There is much more Steampunk Romance-inspired work to see... your next stop on this hop is Betty Boo's blog. And don't forget that if you get lost along the way, just go to the Simply Betty Stamps Challenge Blog for the full hop list!

Help for Katie

Ok, this post is very out of the norm for HDH.  Usually we are all about the gruesome and dark nuances of our imaginations and dreams, but today is a shot of reality.

Katie seems like an amazing woman, and I want to help... and you can help too!
All you have to do is make a $15 donation, and you get this lovely digital stamp collection:

This is the second edition set for Help for Katie.  Some fabulous contributors have come together to donate the monies from this set to help Katie and her family.

Betty Boo of Simply Betty Stamps and one of our very own SBS DT members, Cheri, are two of those contributors, and Betty asked if the SBS DT could showcase their work today... like she had to ask :)
Though Katie has stomach cancer, I thought I'd use this opportunity to create a card for the mother of a very dear friend of mine who has breast cancer.  The sentiment is totally fitting for my friend and her mom... I mean, not that they are bitches... well... ok... my friend IS a self-proclaimed bitch, so there ya' go :)

I colored-up Katie with Copic markers and used the cardstock and paper from The Angel Company's Lily Anna collection.  Super clean and simple card to keep the focus where it should be :)

Be sure to check out the rest of the SBS DT creations on the SBS Challenge blog, and don't forget to donate to the Cause at the Help for Katie blog!

SBS Friday Challenge - Recycle!

I'm here with another challenge for you!  Yes, yes... I know.  I haven't even done MY Macabre Monday challenge card yet, but you guys are sooooooooo much better than me :)

Since I've been a super-slacker DT girl for Simply Betty Stamps lately, I felt it was important to get my butt in gear and do a little creating!  So instead of doing work for my "real job", I decided to play catch-up.

It is Angela's turn to host this week, and she is challenging you to RECYCLE.
Come on how easy is that..
Don't toss it, Use it.
You can use scrap leftover paper, packing from paper, embellishments, bits and pieces of leftover embellishments or anything craft or non craft related.
It's up to you, just have fun with it and use things in a way you would never even think
to use on your creations.

A perfect night for a stroll in a cemetery, no?

The only "fresh" items I used for this card were the card base, Stickles & ribbon.  Everything else I dug out of my scrap pile!  The Cricut die-cut fence, cemetery & gravestone were leftovers from a class I taught in early October.  The moon-with-ravens die-cut is from a MME sheet from who-knows-when.

I decided to use Elaine from the SBS Victorian Beauties digi line, and the stamped sentiment is from StampInsanity.

I over-exposed this shot to show all of the layers and die-cuts... this card is so dark, it's hard to see all of the details!

How's this for using scraps... the batty background paper?  That is two separate pieces.  Yep.  I added the wavy ribbon to hide the splice :)  Genius, me thinks!

Now, whenever there is a challenge, there is a prize!
Betty is giving away two rubber stamps:
Lola and London.
So be sure to go back and link up your project for this challenge on the SBC blog
using ANY Simply Betty image as part of your creation.

And if you haven't created your HDH Macabre Monday challenge project yet, why not combine these two challenges?!  Don't just link them here or you won't be entered to win!

Are you up for it?!

Happy Birthday Rio!

Remember awhile back I told you an eerie story... so unbelievable, you thought I made it up.  You know, the one about a TEENAGER who did NOT want gifts or money, but instead wanted to DONATE it to St. Jude's Hospital?  Yeah!  THAT unbelievable story.  Well, today is that unbelievably generous teenager's birthday!!

Happy Birthday, chica!

So, here's the card:

And remember, all proceeds from the purchase of this Rio Birthday Girl digi goes to benefit St. Jude's!  To see how much has been raised so far, and to see the rest of the SBS DT's card creations, go to THIS post.

Digi:  Rio Birthday Girl (SBS)
Rubber stamp sentiment:  Savvy Sayings (The Angel Company)
Paper (all TAC):  Mimi dp (retired), Mimi cardstock, Caboodle White cardstock
Copic markers:  E11, E13, E15, R81, R83, R85, R89, YG01, YG03, YG23 (can't remember hair color)

That's it for today kids.  And I PROMISE I'll get Teri's intro post soon... but we're still trying to find just the PERFECT HDH alias for her :)

A just-for-the-fun-of-it post...

Yep.  I am officially putting my foot down... I decided to create something that is not for a challenge, DT assignment, or any other "need to do" type thing.

Oh how refreshing :)
I mean, I'm not saying that I don't love the DT thing or the challenge thing... it's just sometimes good to create something for no reason at all.

The sentiment is from Stamp Insanity and the digi is one of the Punky Teen Halloweenies from Simply Betty Stamps.  And I believe the paper is BoBunny?

Now, off to bed... I've gotta work tomorrow, then Monday, then teach a class Monday night.  Thank goodness I'm over my cold finally!  I hope everyone had a great weekend and is ready for a new challenge on Monday... in fact, this card kinda leads up to that challenge a bit :)

Simply Betty Stamps challenge... Bling It On

Pic is a bit out of focus... sorry.  The paper is Velvet Descent from Crafty Chaos Designs and the funky rhinestones are from JoAnn's.

I thought the folded flower was very fitting for a little fairy :)
And obviously, Stickles is my friend.

Be sure to check out the challenge over at SBC!

A selfless birthday wish from a 13-year-old

Hello everyone! I am hoping to reach many of you on this special post...

Betty's daughter Rio is turning 13! OMG another teen in the house! Two teens+one toddler= disasterous fun... on most days! LOL

Okay okay, so let me tell you about the Special Image for Betty's Special girl Rio with a Special Birthday request we got from her this year...

Every year Betty will ask the kids what they want for their birthday.
The rest of this post is in Betty's own words
Money, a trip, a party, or an overnight stay at Disneyland.... Rio came to me and said, "Mom, is it really really my choice what I get for my birthday?" I told her of course! So she says, "Ok, this year mom, I want money, but can I do anything at all with it? I mean anything I want mom?" Again, I said of course. "Okay, I want my birthday money to be donated to the children of St. Jude's hospital so they can have a special day, or whatever the money is needed for. I don't want to have money to just blow when I can help other kids that can't get out of bed, or go outside. That's what I want for my birthday!"

Of course I was already choking on my tears before she finished her sentence! What a marvelous request, selfless and special! I had a special image made for her 13th birthday, and I have not told her about it, or shown it to her. I am asking for a very special request myself in honor of my daughter's selflessness.

The image is now available for $3.00, I am asking you all to purchase this special stamp and help me bring my daughter special birthday wishes by mailing off a card you make with the image to her... but wait that's not all... all I ask is for the special card to be mailed because the $3.00 made from every purchase will be donated to St. Jude's again in Rio's honor. I am planning on taking her after her birthday to the hospital with the money we raise from this image and her birthday money as requested and giving it all to the hospital!

Her birthday is Feb. 8th, if you all could find it in your hearts to give my little girl that special card my mailing it to her I know it would make her day so special... she is always so grateful of the little things and my hope is to fill that mailbox of ours to the brim with Birthday cards! I plan to gather all cards mailed to her from now until the 8th, and secretly putting them all in the mailbox along with her very favorite chocolates: York Peppermint Patties and Peanut Butter cups! That evening after her birthday dinner I am going to ask her to walk down the street with me to the cluster boxes and have her open the mailbox (I am going to pretend I have not checked the mail all day of course) then BAM! they all pop out at her! Whoohooo! She will be thrilled once she realizes what exactly all those letters are.

So, would you all be willing to help Rio raise a little money for the kids and send off a card? If so here is our mailing address:

PO BOX 132314
Big Bear Lake, CA 92315

You can purchase the image at
simplybettystamps.com under Rio the Birthday Girl digi! She is the first of six new Emos soon to come!

Here is the image: what do you think of it? Pretty cute huh? She's the special birthday diva turning 13!! I will run this image for $3.00 until the 8th of Feb. after that she will be gone for good. So please be aware that she will be a very limited edition digi! She may later make a debut in rubber but I am not making any promises, I will try my best if there is enough interest in her to be made into Rubber. Thank you all for your support! And please please please spread the word about this special fund raiser. Thank you all again!

Yeay!  It's finally here :)  Simply Betty Stamps' Valentine Emos Release par-tay!  If you've arrived here via Angela's blog, you are on the right track... if not or if you get lost along the way, please go to the Simply Betty Challenge blog.  While you are there, you might want to check out how to win a couple of these awesome Valentine Emo digi's!

And here is my little bit o' love today...

Yes, the infamous Cupid Christian feeding Valentine Lola a line ;)  I really couldn't figure out a whopper of a witty sentiment... I'm sure y'all can have a little fun with THAT!  Some others I was kicking around:

"What are you tryin' to say...  this outfit isn't sexy?"
or
"How many guys CAN pull off this look, huh?!"

:)

I know... silly.  But fun!  I LOVE the look in Lola's eye... is it not devious?!  I Stickled her up a bit for a bit o' blinginess... I mean she had to match Christian's halo & wings, right?

That face!  {giggling}  I don't know of any dude (of sound mind) that would don a diaper to impress the ladies... I'm just sayin'.  :)

Well, that's it for this Fiendishly Fun Friday!  Don't forget to leave some lovin' along the hop... you could win a little sumpin' sumpin' ;)

Your next stop on this Virtual Valentine Voyage is Betty Boo!

Like Valentine Betty, London has a big wink for ya'... cute, huh?

And I am loving my Scor-Tape & squinchy ribbon look...
it uses way more ribbon, but it is soooo worth it :)
The sentiment is a retired one from TAC and the ribbon is HL.
I've used MME's Alphabet Soup Boy

Be sure to check out the SBS challenge blog for the other DT's work... it is fabulous as always!

SBC 12 Days of Christmas... Day 8

Over at Simply Betty Challenges, there is an AWESOME challenge going on... ONLY UNTIL Dec. 11th at 11:00PM PST!  Now... many of us wait until the 25th for Santa Claus to come to town... but today SANDY CLAWS is coming instead! Or well he has actually arrived! All you have to do is create your version of Sandy Claws on your projects! You will win two very special digis... these digis are going to be exclusive to the DT, a few winners, and as a free set in the future with your purchase at SBS! You do not have to purchase a new SBS image, just get those creative gears turning and create your Sandy Claws project with any SBS image!

Be sure to check out all the details at the Simply Betty Challenges blog!!

The DT was fortunate enough to be able to work with this fabulous new image created by our very own Cheri!  I will apologize for the icky photos... they were taken late at night under the OTT light... ugh.

Isn't he awesome?!  Not what I did with it, I mean the image itself!  LOVE IT!  And how festive is he?!

The sentiment is from a retired TAC set, All Things Christmas, but I use it over and over again :)  It's VERY versatile, no?  The snowflakes in VersaMark are from TAC's Vintage Santa.  A little May Arts webby trim & some Eyelet Outlet brads finish this baby off.

Don't forget... you've only got ONE day to play along with this challenge over at SBC!!  Good luck!

SBS 12 Days of Christmas - Day 2

Now let's get on to Day #2! What is Christmas without the Grinch!? Why it's just not Christmas at all! So today we are challenging you to create the best Grinch-mas project you can think of! For this one you can use any image, doesn't have to be an SBS image, but remember it always help sway the judges when choosing a winner! Wink wink!

Today's Prize:
Any 2 SBS rubber stamps winner's choice! Remember you have until Nov. 29th at 11:00 pm PST to upload your creations to the SBS Challenge blog.  And check to see what some of the DT has in store for you!

And here is my last minute entry :)

This would be Punky Teen Christmas Tristan... I really like him and this is the first chance I've had to color him up!  I paired him with a little Echo Park Everybody Loves Christmas paper.  This is the Scallop Stripe one... you can see a bit of the stripe on the left, and I used the other side of it for the background.

The skullies are from a Bombshell stamp set, the Bah humbug is a retired sentiment from TAC, and the Whoville is written, not-so-greatly, by me.  Copic markers & a little Rock Candy Distress Stickles finish this baby off.  :)

That's it for today, peeps... super simple card, but a fun one to color!

Now, you KNOW I'm down for anything Halloweenie... and Winter holiday cards are no different :)  Actually, I've been known to send Halloween cards INSTEAD of Winter cards, but that's just how I roll.

Mummy Lola was the first SBS image that popped into my head for this challenge :)  At least I gave her a more festive outfit than the usual mummy, right?

Bazzill & Neenah cardstocks, Copic markers, a little May Arts webby trim, Tim Holtz edge die, Scor-bug, a few misc. gems & an American Crafts ribbon rose were all that were needed for this yuletide card :)  The alphabet set I used for the sentiment comes from TAC called Mini-Bet.
