Help for Katie

Ok, this post is very out of the norm for HDH.  Usually we are all about the gruesome and dark nuances of our imaginations and dreams, but today is a shot of reality.

Katie seems like an amazing woman, and I want to help... and you can help too!
All you have to do is make a $15 donation, and you get this lovely digital stamp collection:

This is the second edition set for Help for Katie.  Some fabulous contributors have come together to donate the monies from this set to help Katie and her family.

Betty Boo of Simply Betty Stamps and one of our very own SBS DT members, Cheri, are two of those contributors, and Betty asked if the SBS DT could showcase their work today... like she had to ask :)
Though Katie has stomach cancer, I thought I'd use this opportunity to create a card for the mother of a very dear friend of mine who has breast cancer.  The sentiment is totally fitting for my friend and her mom... I mean, not that they are bitches... well... ok... my friend IS a self-proclaimed bitch, so there ya' go :)

I colored-up Katie with Copic markers and used the cardstock and paper from The Angel Company's Lily Anna collection.  Super clean and simple card to keep the focus where it should be :)

Be sure to check out the rest of the SBS DT creations on the SBS Challenge blog, and don't forget to donate to the Cause at the Help for Katie blog!

Happy Birthday, chica!

So, here's the card:

And remember, all proceeds from the purchase of this Rio Birthday Girl digi goes to benefit St. Jude's!  To see how much has been raised so far, and to see the rest of the SBS DT's card creations, go to THIS post.

Simply Betty Stamps challenge... Bling It On

Pic is a bit out of focus... sorry.  The paper is Velvet Descent from Crafty Chaos Designs and the funky rhinestones are from JoAnn's.

I thought the folded flower was very fitting for a little fairy :)
And obviously, Stickles is my friend.

Be sure to check out the challenge over at SBC!

Like Valentine Betty, London has a big wink for ya'... cute, huh?

And I am loving my Scor-Tape & squinchy ribbon look...
it uses way more ribbon, but it is soooo worth it :)
The sentiment is a retired one from TAC and the ribbon is HL.
I've used MME's Alphabet Soup Boy

So evidently Blogger decided to delete my January 1st post I had scheduled.  Ugh.

January 1st-6th, the
Simply Betty Stamps DT have been/will be previewing the latest SBS Valentine Emos line... just in time for Valentine's Day!  On January 7th, there will be a big blog hop & you can begin purchasing these awesome images... digital or rubbah, baby!

I'm lovin' that wink... flirty girl.  And I wish I could pull off a hair color like that... just sayin'.

Simply Betty Stamps also carries a few choice paper lines, including those shown here today!

Be sure to check out the SBS challenge blog for the other DT's work... it is awesome!  And you make want to scroll back to start on January 1st... it's worth it!

HDH068 Octopodally Ominous... take two

I meant to get this up here yesterday, but oh well.  Today's card is totally NOT on the creepy side, dammit... hope y'all aren't too disappointed :)

This is Glinda the Good Witch of The Wizard of Oz series from Octopode Factory.  Don't you LOVE how Lily has drawn her crown coming right out of her head?!  Cute with a touch o' creepy... me likey.

Yes, yes... there is A LOT of pink here :)  But it IS Glinda, people.  Don't you love the fancy stick pins?  Those little beauties are from Maya Road.  The base is DCWV white scalloped cs, the paper is a retired line from Basic Grey & TAC, and the ribbon is a fabulously frugal find from a Hobby Lobby clearance bag of ribbon.

Here is the countdown of items for the HDH068 challenge (8 items only!):
1.  card base
2.  pink mat
3.  patterned paper
4.  sentiment panel
5.  Glinda
6 & 7.  stick pins
8.  bow (the ribbon & bow is all one piece, so I'm counting that as one)

You still have time to enter the challenge!  It ends Sunday night at 5pm CST.

Here's my offering for today's challenge:
Now, you KNOW I'm down for anything Halloweenie... and Winter holiday cards are no different :)  Actually, I've been known to send Halloween cards INSTEAD of Winter cards, but that's just how I roll.

Mummy Lola was the first SBS image that popped into my head for this challenge :)  At least I gave her a more festive outfit than the usual mummy, right?

Bazzill & Neenah cardstocks, Copic markers, a little May Arts webby trim, Tim Holtz edge die, Scor-bug, a few misc. gems & an American Crafts ribbon rose were all that were needed for this yuletide card :)  The alphabet set I used for the sentiment comes from TAC called Mini-Bet.

This Lola is available in digi AND rubber form... AND everything is on sale right now!!!  $2.75 for a digi and only $4 for rubbah... and don't forget about the papers & embellies over there.  Go HERE to shop :)

Simply Betty Stamps - Sweet Gothic World Kids Release!

Betty has commissioned a new artist for this release... you can find out more by going to the Simply Betty Challenge blog.  Until then, here is the whole line:
Judy, Sally, Wednesday, Tilly, Alex, and Scott
Cute, right?  But, if you will notice the touch o' Gothiness... skully party hat, batty balloon, skully barrettes, faces with attitude... my kinda cute.

I decided to work with Wednesday & Alex... for obvious reasons :)  There are so many snarky sentiments that I will be able to pair with these two, no?!

I tried to make the top of her dress/sleeves & a bit of her tulle skirt look sheer... did it work?  I probably should have darkened them up just a wee bit more.  And I do NOT like how her hair turned out.  Practice practice practice... ugh.

For Wednesday, I tried a darker skin tone than I normally use... kinda Latina-ish, maybe?  I need more practice with it because the blush is DEFINITELY off.  The sentiment is PERFECT for this card... just sayin' :)  It's one by The Angel Company called Great Greetings.

Next up, Alex:
The look on his face cracks me up. :)  Not really in the party mode, me thinks.  How do you like the sentiment?  It should be read with very little gusto... and perhaps a tinge of annoyance.  :)

And isn't it nice that he is color coordinated with his giftie?  :)

I decided to go through my embellishments and try to use some oldies but goodies.  I have a tough time with guy cards... no ribbon or foof... so these Karen Foster brads & the Scor-Bug did the trick.

Well, that's it for today.  I've been so tired lately, so these aren't the most fantabulous of cards, but I don't hide much from you guys :)  Don't forget to check out the rest of the DT's wonderful work over at the SBC blog!!

Macabre Monday HDH064 - Butchered Blueprint

HDH Macabre Monday Rules:
1. Create a dark and macabre SOMETHING (card, scrap page, altered item, whatever) that follows the specific Macabre Monday challenge given. Cutesy is fine, but creepy is better :)
2. You have until the following Sunday night @ 5pm central time to post your creation and please leave a direct-link back here.
3. If you upload to any online galleries (TACPCC, S&S, PCP, SCS, etc.), please tag the title using HDH064.
4. Weekly giveaways! Some weeks will be loaded with loot, others not-so-much... but the thrill is in the win, right?! Some prizes shall be by random drawing, others hand picked... and I'm not telling you ahead of time :)
5. I'll be selecting a weekly Gruesome Twosome (my top two favorite creations) from all the players. At the end of every month these will be compiled and a Master of Macabre will be selected and will receive a little giftie from me... this could be stamp sets, handmade items, papers, halloweenie embellishments... you just never know.

Ok, my little pretties... your challenge this week:

Butchered Blueprint
You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween page, project or card using this sketch:
Yep, this is a new challenge for us here at HDH! Interpret the sketch as you like... maybe the the blood drips actually become crinkled ribbon, the skull a scalloped circle & the scythe a stick pin... endless possibilities, baby. If you could please post a picture of the sketch & link back here, that would be great :)

And this week we have another new sponsor! Nikki from Limited Runs Stamps has generously offered up three digi's to this week's winner! Be sure to page back to older posts... she has a bunch of images on there... and some of them are pretty creepy... just like we like 'em! And Nikki has even played along with us this week:

Necromancer Nikki:
I LOVE that you actually used the Grim Reaper... perfect for this sketch!
And the subject matter alone... mmmmm :)

Lynx has a sick computer, so we won't see her this week, BUT check out what the other Macabre Minions have in store for your viewing pleasure...

Chaotic Creepy Glowbugg:

LOVE this! So wonderfully creepy-cute... this would make a lovely birthday card, no?!

And check it... Creepy Glowbugg has made two for us this week... awesome! Nothing like an eyeball cuppie cake with green ooze... zombie dessert maybe?

Creepy Cricut Cween Donna:
LOL! Freakin' awesome... LOVE the sentiment with those images, Donna...
this one definitely makes me smile :)

Digital Demon-ess Susan:
What is that peeking about the 'shrooms?
Oh I am hoping for a fun story to go along with this one, Susan! Love it!

Fabulous work from my Macabre Minions... as usual!
I'll be back later this week with my offering...
... but what will YOU do with this sketch?!

HDH063 - Freaker's Free for All by Barb

Here it is... Saturday, and I'm just now posting my challenge stuff :)  I'm not in a gabby kinda mood today, so I'm just gonna share a bunch of photos of my Tim Holtz Configurations box I made with My Mind's Eye papers, Tim's tissue tape & Mod Podge:

I LOVE this line of paper... is all flocked and fabulous.  I've got a couple of little Halloweenie bits & bobbs that I'll put in  the box... and I think I'll take the acrylic out of the lid because it really obscures your view of the inside.

I also had this little guy colored up and threw this card together real quick:

I'm not totally stoked with the card, but image is too damn cute :)
This is Dracula Mikey from SBS and the sentiment is from a Tim Holtz Halloween stamp set.
