Southampton 1 Man Utd 2. =) *wooots*

STAND-IN strikers Michael Owen and Javier Hernandez rescued Manchester United from an FA Cup upset. Trailing 1-0 to Richard Chaplow's thumping strike, Owen netted a typical poacher's effort before Hernandez pounced on sub Ryan Giggs' killer pass.

It was tough luck on Southampton, who might have found themselves 2-0 ahead at the break but for Guly's shocking miss. But ultimately the quality of Giggs told - just as it did in United's comeback win at Blackpool in midweek - to keep United's Treble dream alive.

Saints started with good intent and Rickie Lambert saw a header blocked by Jonny Evans. Dan Harding's effort was ruled out for offside before Owen twice went close for the visitors. Gabriel Obertan wasted a decent chance but not quite as glaring as the one Guly passed up just before the break as he headed over unmarked six yards out. But Saints still went in front at the break as Chaplow crashed home a superb drive moments later than left United's debut keeper Anders Lindegaard no chance.

Owen, though, soon found his range and drew United level in the 65th minute, nodding home Obertan's deflected drilled cross. And 10 minutes later, Owen cut out a loose ball and fed Giggs, whose precise pass fell perfectly for Hernandez to get the vital touch, with the ball bobbling over the line.

Manchester United 2-0 Wigan Athletic. =)

Goals from Patrice Evra and Javier Hernandez sealed victory for Manchester United against Wigan, who had two men sent off at Old Trafford. It was a vital victory for United who took advantage of defeats from leaders Chelsea and second-placed Arsenal, as Sir Alex Ferguson's men moved level on points with the champions.

United welcomed back striker Wayne Rooney to the bench for the first time since his infamous negotiation saga, he was joined by Paul Scholes who returned from his one match suspension. With Dimitar Berbatov out of the squad and Javier Hernandez finding himself amongst the substitutes, it left Italian striker Federico Macheda, who scored his first goal of the season last week against Aston Villa, playing as the lone striker on the pitch. He was supported by Gabriel Obertan and Nani to assist in the task of getting United on the scoresheet.

United will hope to make top spot all their own next weekend as they entertain neighbours Blackburn Rovers while Chelsea have a tough away trip to St. James Park in prospect. Before that both sides are involved in midweek Champions League action with United making the trip to Glasgow to face Rangers while Chelsea hope to regain the winning touch against visiting MSK Zilina.

Teams:

Manchester United: Van der Sar, Rafael, Evra, Vidic, Ferdinand, Carrick, Fletcher, Park Ji-Sung, Nani, Macheda, Obertan

Wigan: Al Habsi, Alcaraz, Caldwell, Figueroa, Gohouri, Diame, Thomas, N'Zogbia, Stam, Rodallega, Gómez

Final Scoreline: Manchester United 2-0 Wigan Athletic (Evra 45', Hernandez 77')

Match Preview - Manchester City v Manchester United.

Match Preview - Manchester City v Manchester United

Form: City are currently struggling to find form, with three defeats in their last four games. There last Premier League tie was a 2-0 victory over West Brom, losing to Wolves and Arsenal in their previous two League fixtures, and a humiliating 3-1 defeat to Polish minnows Lech Poznan. Another few losses added to Roberto Mancini's CV and he's a goner...

United are on the back of 6 straight wins, most recently a 3-2 thriller (for the neutrals) against Wolves. The other five coming against Tottenham and Stoke in the League, Bursaspor (twice) in Europe and Wolves in the Carling Cup. However, Sir Alex Ferguson is without some key players.

The Injury Front: City will be without in-form striker Mario Balotelli on Wednesday, after he was banned for three games after picking up a straight red card against West Brom over the weekend. Emmanuel Adebayor and Michael Johnson are both doubtful, but apart from the trio, City are full-strength.

Squad: Hart, Richards, Zabaleta, Bridge, Lescott, Boyata, De Jong, Vieira, Barry, Johnson, K Toure, Y Toure, Tevez, Silva, Adebayor, Kolarov, Given, Milner, Kompany, Boateng.

United are currently experiencing a virus, which has spread to Dimitar Berbatov, Paul Scholes, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra and Michael Carrick. Most, if not all could recover in-time, however. Ryan Giggs and Luis Nani are not expected to be passed fit, Wayne Rooney is currently undergoing rehab work in the US, while Michael Owen, Owen Hargreaves and Antonio Valencia all remain sidelined.

Squad: Van Der Sar, Kuszczak, Rafael, Brown, O'Shea, Ferdinand, Vidic, Smalling, Evans, Evra, Fabio, Obertan, Bébé, Carrick, Gibson, Scholes, Fletcher, Anderson, Nani, Park, Berbatov, Chicharito, Macheda.

Who do I think will win???? Of course Manchester United lah!!! A 2-0 victory!!!!!!!!!

Manchester United 2 Tottenham Hotspur 0: match report.

Manchester United 2-0 Tottenham Hotspur.

After stumbling to six draws to 10 games, his players struck a significant blow in the Premier League’s power politics by vanquishing an ambitious Tottenham Hotspur, courtesy of a bullet header from captain Nemanja Vidic and Nani’s controversial late strike.

The win conveyed little conviction, but the manner of the performance was unlikely to perturb Ferguson, after a destabilising period in which the club’s headlines have been dominated by a player not even on the field. An efficient victory against one of the top flight’s most talented sides proved that United could survive, just, without the central presence of Wayne Rooney.

Dimitar Berbatov might have been alarmingly quiet up front, but Vidic led by example with the goal to stir United, before Nani profited six minutes from time with a stunning piece of opportunism. Referee Mark Clattenbirg, having turned down a Tottenham penalty appeal, allowed goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes – who believed play had been stopped – to make a short clearance only as far as the lurking Portuguse, who gleefully slid the ball into an open net.

The dainty Nani supplied United’s creative spark all evening, dancing around the formidable Younes Kaboul with ease, but it was Ji-Sung Park who carried a similar threat on the opposite flank. Barely had the Tottenham back line settled than the South Korean fashioned a raking strike from 25 yards, beating Gomes before the shot rebounded off the post to safety.
