Southampton 1 Man Utd 2. =) *wooots*

STAND-IN strikers Michael Owen and Javier Hernandez rescued Manchester United from an FA Cup upset. Trailing 1-0 to Richard Chaplow's thumping strike, Owen netted a typical poacher's effort before Hernandez pounced on sub Ryan Giggs' killer pass.

It was tough luck on Southampton, who might have found themselves 2-0 ahead at the break but for Guly's shocking miss. But ultimately the quality of Giggs told - just as it did in United's comeback win at Blackpool in midweek - to keep United's Treble dream alive.

Saints started with good intent and Rickie Lambert saw a header blocked by Jonny Evans. Dan Harding's effort was ruled out for offside before Owen twice went close for the visitors. Gabriel Obertan wasted a decent chance but not quite as glaring as the one Guly passed up just before the break as he headed over unmarked six yards out. But Saints still went in front at the break as Chaplow crashed home a superb drive moments later than left United's debut keeper Anders Lindegaard no chance.

Owen, though, soon found his range and drew United level in the 65th minute, nodding home Obertan's deflected drilled cross. And 10 minutes later, Owen cut out a loose ball and fed Giggs, whose precise pass fell perfectly for Hernandez to get the vital touch, with the ball bobbling over the line.

Manchester United to Thrash CHELSEA This Sunday at Padang Timur PJ! =)

I have been a Manchester United fan/supporter all my life.

This Sunday - there will be a clash of the titans, the main-event, the extravaganza... Chelsea takes on Manchester United at Stamford Bridge, LONDON. Defending champions CHELSEA, who were outstanding for the first few games of the season - are now 4th on the table with 4 defeats so far, take on an in-form Manchester United. =)

The game at Stamford Bridge.

While Chelsea are the defending champions, they have lost 4 times in 17 games this season, while Manchester United are unbeaten so far. Manchester United are indeed top of the table with 34 points, 2 points more than 2nd placed Arsenal with a game-in-hand.

With an all-time record of 18 Premiership titles and 11 FA Cups and 3 European Champions League victories, Manchester United are indeed the team to beat; they were last time, they are now. With such on-form superstars such as Park Ji Sung, Nani, Javier Hernandez, and of course, 5-goals-against-Blackburn-last-month Dimitar Berbatov - I do not think that CHELSEA stand a chance at all. =P

I believe WAYNE ROONEY will score this Sunday. =)

Guess what - come this Sunday - there will be an awesome live viewing party whereby we'll have South East Asia's largest ever TV screen - screening Chelsea vs Manchester United!!!

Qatar’s World Cup 2022 Win Is A Win For Technology.

Well there you go: the 2018 Fifa World Cup will be in Russia and the 2022 Fifa World Cup will be in Qatar. We’re all in agreement in the official CrunchGear chat room this morning: it’s more exciting this way. Would you rather spend your summer holiday on the Baltic Sea coast or in rainy Liverpool? (Nothing against Liverpool, mind.) I, for one, think it’s far more interesting, at least from an international perspective, to host the tournament smack dab in the Middle East than, say, New Jersey. You have to remember: it’s an international game, and Fifa these days is very keen on using the tournament to spread the seeds of soccer (and all that that entails) all over the world. It’s a societal thing as much as anything else.

Oh, right: this is a tech site. Believe it or not, there is a tech story here, specifically as it relates to the Qatar bid. Here’s a hint: how can you possibly host a World Cup during the middle of the summer in the Middle East? Doesn’t it get, you know, hot there?

Apparently Qatar will deploy some sort of air cooling technology inside the stadiums in order to make sure the players don’t collapse from heat exhaustion. You can’t have Messi & Co. running around in 30-degree Celsius temperatures for 90 minutes. Well, I think Messi will be 34 by the time the 2022 World Cup comes around, so I’m not sure it’ll exactly be him running around out there. The cooling technology will be able to reduce the temperature on the pitch by as much as 20 degrees Celsius.

Says the Qatari bid’s Web site (the site is slammed right now, so give it a bit):

Each of the five stadiums will harness the power of the suns rays to provide a cool environment for players and fans by converting solar energy into electricity that will then be used to cool both fans and players at the stadiums. When games are not taking place, the solar installations at the stadia will export energy onto the power grid. During matches, the stadia will draw energy from the grid. This is the basis for the stadiums’ carbon-neutrality. Along with the stadiums, we plan to make the cooling technologies we’ve developed available to other countries in hot climates, so that they too can host major sporting events.

So not only will Qatar pay for the development of this technology, but they’ll also give (sell?) to other hot-climate countries so they, too. can host international tournaments. Oh, and this technology won’t just be used inside the stadiums. Nope, they’ll also be used all over the country, at Fan Zones, training areas, you name it.

And a big laughing-out-loud to some of the guys on Fox Soccer Channel (I was watching their live coverage) bemoaning the fact that Qatar gets to host the tournament, complaining about how oil and gas bought the tournament[s]. Sounds like sour grapes to me. Besides, now you get to experience a different culture for a month. What is so terrible about that? It’s the World Cup, people!

Match Preview - Manchester City v Manchester United.

Match Preview - Manchester City v Manchester United

Form: City are currently struggling to find form, with three defeats in their last four games. There last Premier League tie was a 2-0 victory over West Brom, losing to Wolves and Arsenal in their previous two League fixtures, and a humiliating 3-1 defeat to Polish minnows Lech Poznan. Another few losses added to Roberto Mancini's CV and he's a goner...

United are on the back of 6 straight wins, most recently a 3-2 thriller (for the neutrals) against Wolves. The other five coming against Tottenham and Stoke in the League, Bursaspor (twice) in Europe and Wolves in the Carling Cup. However, Sir Alex Ferguson is without some key players.

The Injury Front: City will be without in-form striker Mario Balotelli on Wednesday, after he was banned for three games after picking up a straight red card against West Brom over the weekend. Emmanuel Adebayor and Michael Johnson are both doubtful, but apart from the trio, City are full-strength.

Squad: Hart, Richards, Zabaleta, Bridge, Lescott, Boyata, De Jong, Vieira, Barry, Johnson, K Toure, Y Toure, Tevez, Silva, Adebayor, Kolarov, Given, Milner, Kompany, Boateng.

United are currently experiencing a virus, which has spread to Dimitar Berbatov, Paul Scholes, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra and Michael Carrick. Most, if not all could recover in-time, however. Ryan Giggs and Luis Nani are not expected to be passed fit, Wayne Rooney is currently undergoing rehab work in the US, while Michael Owen, Owen Hargreaves and Antonio Valencia all remain sidelined.

Squad: Van Der Sar, Kuszczak, Rafael, Brown, O'Shea, Ferdinand, Vidic, Smalling, Evans, Evra, Fabio, Obertan, Bébé, Carrick, Gibson, Scholes, Fletcher, Anderson, Nani, Park, Berbatov, Chicharito, Macheda.

Who do I think will win???? Of course Manchester United lah!!! A 2-0 victory!!!!!!!!!
