It's the Chinese New Year season! While everyone enjoys their standard 9-course meals, we decided to go get the poon choi =) What is poon choi? Poon Choi (pronounced: Phùn-tshoi), also known as pun choi or Big Bowl Feast, is a traditional type of dish originating from Hong Kong village cuisine. It is served in wooden, porcelain or metal basins.

The RM 398 combo comes with shark fin's soup, yee sang, lap mei fun, vege as well as the poon choi!!!!!!!

It was said that Poon Choi was invented during the late Song Dynasty. When Mongol troops invaded Song China, the young Emperor fled to the area around Guangdong Province and Hong Kong. To serve the Emperor as well as his army, the locals collected all their best food available, cooked it, and because there were not enough containers, put the resulting dishes in wooden washbasins. In this way, Poon Choi was invented.

I have been a hardcore supporter of KL Hilton; seriously, their restaurants are amongst the best and the tops in the country, despite it being halal - but I still love all its restaurants to bits!!! =) Amongst them all, my favourite is still Chynna - but Senses, Zeta Bar, Iketeru as well as Boardwalk are pretty good too!!!

Yummly.com - An Awesome Recipe Search Engine.

I enjoy cooking. In fact, I would try to think of stuffs to cook, or improvise from my existing recipes and so on. But there just isnt enough time nowadays to do much cooking; been losing my touch LOL. Anyways, I stumbled upon a super cool website - called Yummly.com =)

It is a semantic web search engine for food, cooking and recipes. It ‘understands’ food on a variety of levels, allows users to search by ingredient, diet, allergy, nutrition, price, cuisine, time, taste, meal courses and sources, and ‘learns’ about users based on their likes and dislikes. Yummly uses this information to categorize food for search and make recommendations.
