Restoran Pun Chun Duck Noodles, Bidor

I went to visit my new project site in Tapah; the new UiTM Tapah campus. Works had started already so I did my regular visit there. On the return journey, I decided to use the trunk road for a bit, to stop by an old school restaurant, one that serves some really nice duck noodles.

This restaurant is situated in Bidor, south of Tapah, also in Perak state. Historywise - Bidor used to be part of the Gangga Negara kingdom based on the historical artifacts that were discovered. It is believed that the area accepted Hindu-Buddhism around 900 years ago. The pioneer of the town was believed to be Syeikh Abdul Ghani who also became the village headman after the founding of the settlements.

According to Wikipedia - The most famous food undoubtedly will be the duck-thigh-noodle available at one of the eatery that is the famous Pun Chun. The restaurant is located on the main street. Pun Chun is also famous for its 'Sat Kai Ma' - a type of sweet dessert and also 'Kai Jai Peng' which is the chicken biscuit.

Yes, this is the famous Pun Chun restaurant. =)

The restaurant is located on the main road in Bidor town, and it is practically impossible to miss it.

This restaurant has been around for apparently over 70 years already, and it is famous for its duck noodles as well as its other tit-bits, such as the sat keh ma, chicken biscuits and lou poh peng.

When you order the duck noodles (kon loh), it comes with the duck soup on the side.

A very herbal soup indeed, with a tinge of dried longan to sweeten the soup further.

You could also go without the duck - and opt for wantan soup.

The noodles (kon loh style) - with a generous amount of vegetable, and some tasty charsiew.
