New at Anthropologie: The Splayer Sofa. $6,498
I think one person's comment on Fb suggested a "get-this-look" alternative for way less: Get a cat. OK, that was a bit catty in of itself. But, the upside is that you would get both a pet to cuddle and a hip new sofa look.
Or is it
really chic?
A closer look at the details.
SO, I'm asking: What do you think?
The creative duo behind one of Anthropologie's new line hails from South Africa, and they call their company, Casamento Expressionist Furniture. They're also offering one-of-a-kind chairs, such as this one:
Also at Anthropologie: $1,298
I can't help but wonder if sofa "undone" might also unravel in terms of
staying power. In other words, would I love it in couple of years? So, the more practical side of me might lean toward this:

From the Casamento showroom.
I do like Casamento's use of embroidery and their penchant for natural fibers and latex foam. The regular foam we all typically see or sit on emits harmful gases into the atmosphere during the manufacturing process, according to Casamento. Additionally, the old foam must be treated with chemicals as it's otherwise highly flammable. Latex foam is made from the sap of rubber trees. The company also seeks other foam alternatives, such as wool, coir, raw cotton and etc.
Regardless of my personal preferences, I do admire people who take a chance, who do what they love . . . and this couple see to achieve both. And I do love an old worn leather club chair . . . just not so sure about a tattered sofa.
