A Day Out with Paul Tan in the All New HONDA FREED.

The pictures below are brought to you by the awesome SONY NEX-3.

make.believe

And so... last weekend, HONDA MALAYSIA did a test-drive themed "4Seater + Ideas" with 32 very lucky bloggers - it was with their all new HONDA FREED. So, basically, add in bloggers, nice car and then also add in Paul Tan - and there you have it; A Bloggers' Day Out with Paul Tan in the all-new Honda Freed.

A very stunning panorama shot of the 9 Honda Freeds.
Taken with style with the 3D SWEEP PANORAMA mode on the SONY NEX-3. One of the many super features of the Sony NEX. The SONY NEX delivers 14.2 megapixels of DSLR quality images with the freedom of interchangeable lens.

A day out in the All New FREED.
It was an early setting - at Souled Out, Hartamas. I had never been to Souled Out at 8am before; needless to say, I was way too sleepy and lazy while I was getting there. However - the moment I got there, all the sleepyness turned into excitement. I wanted to drive the Freed right away!

The HONDA FREED is an interesting MPV - I would call it stunning. It is categorized under its own category - in fact, it is currently unrivalled and it is indeed first in its category right now - the premium compact MPV.

AND so... we took the cars out to Putrajaya Waterpark - a cool 80km journey to and fro to experience some of the features of the Honda Freed.

The lineup of the Honda Freeds.
I believe, assuming I'm considered the average (600Mb), the 32 of us probably took close to 20 Gigabytes worth of photos and videos in the space of 4 hours. Haha. But that would be because the car is pretty good and pretty slick I would say.

The Honda Freed - simply stunning.

I would say the Honda Freed is the premium MPV. It somewhat reminds me of the Honda Odyssey/Stream - but a slightly miniature version. It is almost like an extended version of the Honda Jazz.

Let me show you some of the cool features and UP-points of the Honda Freed.

Automatic Dual Sliding Doors.
The automatic sliding doors makes getting in and out easier, especially in tight parking lots. The doors can be opened via remote or from the driver's seat. The automatic sliding doors are also equipped with anti-pinch sensors that reverse the closing process when an obstacle is detected.

The above - is a video that I took of Hanie to showcase this special sliding door...

Video taken with the SONY NEX. The Sony NEX features a high-performance Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor thats large enough to capture background defocusing effects and Full HD movies.

Big Cargo Capacity.
Thats my team members by the way - Jason, Hanie, Ruzen and yours truly. Team SE7EN FTW!!! Frankly speaking, you could fit 4 Jasons inside the boot and it'll still be quite comfy back here. No matter whatever the object or the amount - the Honda Freed is flexible enough to accommodate various modes to suit your various needs. Choose between having passengers - or cargo. The Freed comes with foldable third row seats - which is easily folded in just 3 steps.

Plenty of dashboard space.
Even if you had 101 gadgets and items - such as your iPhone, Blackberry, DSLR camera, small digital camera, wallet, iPad, polaroid camera, walkie-talkie, tissue paper etc etc - there's plenty of space at the dashboard for you to put them there while you're on the move. This space is also perfect for..... picnics!!! Display all the 20+ pieces of KFC fried chicken that you bought here... ahahahhaa =)

Flat Roof and Flat Floor creates more head room and cabin space.
In the Honda Freed, you'll find a flat floor and roof which creates more cabin space and head room. As shown by Ruzen here (he's like super tall..) - there is plenty of head room even for him. This feature is achieved through the use of an ingeniously built under flood fuel tank.

One Step Low Floor with Grip Assist.
Fear no longer for your kids and elderly! Now - the children and the elderly will have no trouble ascending and descending with the Freed's impressive one step low floor and grip assist!. You can see how low the car is considerably as compared to Hanie...

Luxury and looks aside, I think the Honda Freed is a very good car. Based on my experience with cars (as I had previously mentioned) - I think the Honda Freed is impressive, has good handling, reasonable power for city driving, and importantly, it fits the bill as an MPV. A true multi purpose, all in one vehicle.

Some of the very happy and excited bloggers...
...including Arystle, Esther, Hanie, Smashpop, Rames, Mynjayz, Ellie... and then of course, Paul Tan and the main guy, Harve Singh from Driven. Had a lot of other pics as well, but how to put all of them here right? I think the groupings basically they had to share all the hot chics around - so there was like 1 hot chic per car. I was hoping I could share the car with 3 hot chics, but then I guess life is unfair so I had 2 other dudes in the car + of course, Hanie.

Our Polaroid entries for the contests...
Our 'jump shot' won 2nd place for the Group category, and then our choice for Jason's individual shot won him the 2nd place as well for the individual category. Basically it was Apple products for the whole group!

But one lucky guy won the big prize.
Wilson - with a 'sketch' (I would like to say - he 'cheated', but still received the top votes...) won the 1st prize for the individual category - winning himself a Garmin GPS kit.

We took the car from Hartamas to Putrajaya and back - took it at 60km/h, 90km/h... and I tried slightly faster too - how fast? Go watch the video ok. You know that it is truly a premium luxury MPV when there are barely any wind noise from outside, despite going beyond 100km/h. Most other MPVs, mind you - I've driven quite a few of these would be too noisy to even listen to the radio. This - was just pure luxury.

The Honda Freed costs RM112,980.00 On-the-road with insurance and if you want the awesome special Modulo kit - thats another RM2,200. Warranty is 3 years or 100,000km (whichever comes first) and a 6 months free service or 10,000km (whichever comes first) is provided too. If you look at the various configurations that you can get with the Honda Freed, it is basically a MPV with so many different functions and character... such as the below...

Before I end the post - let me show you Malaysia's very own Megan Fox... ahahaha =)

Verdict... 9.5/10 (ohh.. thats for Esther by the way ahaha)

As for the car... I reckon it would get a very respectable 7/10. Kuddos. =)
